Treatment Emphasis/Philosophy

Kathie primarily uses a systems approach to treatment, illuminating the effects of relationships on an individual or family. Kathie will often utilize interventions from cognitive and behavioral psychology as well as other theories as they apply to the presenting problem. Treatment is supportive in nature and will include assisting clients in altering unhelpful interactions with self or others. Kathie offers individual, couple, and family therapy to achieve the client's goals. Treatment typically lasts three to six months, but on occasion is shorter or longer depending upon the presenting problem. Treatment ends at a mutually agreed upon time. It is most often in the client's best interest to have a last session specifically designated for talking about one's reasons for stopping as well as one's progress.
