Daniel Latorre, MS, LMFT

Master’s Degree, Marriage and Family Therapy. Seattle Pacific University.

Additional Credentials

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Washington.

Treatment Emphasis

I treat children, adolescents, adults, families, couples with issues such as life transitions, behavior problems, depression, anxiety, and exposure to domestic violence, sexual assault, marital problems and parenting.

I am fluent in Spanish, and I frequently make use of cultural sensitivity as part of my work. I coordinate the care of my clients with school and medical personnel.

Additional Training

I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, which is a specific form of therapy that addresses the various symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress. This treatment is most often applied to children who have been victims of abuse. I am also trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy which is designed specifically to help parents develop parenting skills whose children are between the ages of 3 to 7 and have typically undergone a difficult period in their lives.

Treatment Philosophy

I am a mental health therapist with the added advantage of training in Systemic Therapy, which is to say I think relationships are very important to human development and behavior. I work mostly from a Bowen Family Systems perspective but I utilize techniques from various other approaches such as Cognitive-behavioral, Narrative, Brief, Strategic, Solution-focused, Experiential, and Play therapy. Our first session will typically involve an assessment for symptoms, goal-setting, and establishing frequency of visits. I will usually see clients for 3 to 4 sessions and then re-assess to determine progress up to that point. I consider progress to be a reduction of symptoms or a better handling of current problems.
